General Practitioner, former HBF doctor, Medical media commentator

Dr Duncan Jefferson is a well known face and voice in Western Australia as he was the HBF family doctor for over five years appearing regularly on radio, TV and HBF’s website answering member’s questions or taking talkback calls on Radio 6PR.

Dr Jefferson qualified at St.Bartholomews’ Hospital, London in 1972.

He came to Australia in 1976 and worked in rural General Practice for several years in North East Victoria before moving to Perth to help establish the Hospice Palliative Care Service as Deputy Director.  He then returned to Private Medial Practice until 2007 when he retired from full time clinical practice to work in the ear of Health Promotion through the media.

He was the HBF Health Fund family doctor for five years and is a regular contributor to Radio 6PR through regular talkback segments with various station presenters and programs for three years.

During his career he has also been:

  • An External Clinical teacher for the RACGP trainee doctors, and for UWA and Notre Dame medical students.
  • Served on the W.A. Faculty branch of the RACGP.
  • Medial adviser to Freehills Solicitors, City of Subiaco, Transfield, Monadelphous, Town of Cambridge and various other private schools and companies.
  • Served on the executive of the Catholic Doctors Association and acted as Honorary Medial Officer for W.A. Rugby Union.
