International business/motivational speaker, multi award winning broadcaster, author, MC, facilitator
Thomas Murrell MBA CSP is a multi-award winning broadcaster, international business speaker, author, MC, facilitator, and advisor who is a recognised authority on leadership, teamwork and overcoming challenges.
Described by the Australian Institute of Management as “one of Australia’s leading management thinkers and practitioners” he has more than 30 years experience in media, marketing and management.
After high profile roles as a reporter, presenter and executive producer, at just 28 years of age he was the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s youngest-ever senior executive to manage one of the world’s largest broadcast radio networks, covering 2.5 million square kilometers and serving more than 2 million listeners with a team of 80 people and budget of $5 million.
Australia’s influential and widely read business magazine, Business Review Weekly described his leadership style at the time as “one of the best case histories of change management – groups of fewer people on smaller budgets are achieving more, largely because they are working smarter, more creatively and as teams”.
Now as the CEO of his own consulting company, Thomas has been recognised by his peers as a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), the highest possible international qualification and accreditation for professional speakers.
His book, Understanding Influence for Leaders at All Levels (co-author McGraw-Hill) is published in seven countries including the USA and UK.
With a passion for developing people to their full potential, Thomas is able to combine his hands on leadership experience with expertise in persuasion, reputation management, and creating high performance teams.
He uses metaphors from his experience as a National Junior Hammer Throw Champion to demonstrate his powerful “reputational capital” and “brand trajectory” models and a Vincent Fairfax Fellowship helps put this within the context of ethical leadership.
A graduate of three Australian Universities, he gained his MBA from the University of Western Australia with distinction.
This unique combination of leadership, management expertise, and peak performance makes him one of Asia Pacific’s most sought after conference speakers on leadership, teamwork and overcoming obstacles. He is also a first class master of ceremonies and facilitator who has hosted numerous conferences, seminars and awards presentations.
